Been in a store lately...? Or, thumbed through a fashion magazine...? It's obvious that circles are in fashion. In fact, it's been said by the experts (in jewelry design) that circles continue to be the strongest of the geometric shapes. You'll find them in 18k gold, in pave diamonds, in addition to sterling silver. The key here: they're everywhere in jewelry trends!
Moving from circles to links isn't a big jump...they are geometrics from a familiar shape...round. We've seen them in long lengths lining the outside trail of a straightforward button up white shirt and trench coat. Shorter versions make acquaintance with Donna Karan wrap dresses to sweaters and cardigans of many colors or fabrics. No distinction there...just cooperative styling with either silver or gold.
This season...Cuffs have hit it big. Whether in hammered gold or silver, they are distinct and telling. No need to add much to their bold statement of here we are...and we're beautiful. Organic cuffs are readily seen as well. They are a lighter version of their solid self but a bit more delicate and sculptural. We can't forget to mention that yellow gold in large links looks dramatic in a bracelet...perfect for the holiday season and beyond.
The Pear. What does the fall fruit have in common with the lobe...earrings of course? Dropped from gold in fans or woodsy like branches, they are both sensual and earthy. You'll discover them in many precious and semi-precious stones from tourmaline and labradorite to opal and jade.
Left over from our previous comments...brown is still in...so much that several have mentioned something about the new black...! In addition, stackable rings still "in". Oh yes, and layers, also still "in".
Hues that is… I’m Pauline Nelson and I want to welcome you to the Jewelry Trends page of my newly designed website. Each month, contrary to everyone's advice about scheduling this effort in, I plan to update your visit with what is new in high fashion jewelry trends. For now, I believe I can keep this up so here we go…
Just a hint about what’s going to be fashionable right now are brown and blue gem hues…the two colors compliment each other so well. Also, try a layered look and a splash of bolder accessories. Through summer and fall in necklaces, bracelets and rings, jewelry will take one of the two paths - a bold piece or lots of layers. For example, a mixture of necklace chain texture, with varying lengths will show a multi-strand feel that is natural. With rings, same band with different stone will look so great stacked and offer a very different and unique look. A single piece that is strong and sizeable in a ring stone or bracelet will be the one item that makes the outfit - and a statement!
So, take the first, brown and blue hues, and add the second of a layered look and bold accessories and you are an example of what real women as opposed to fashion runway models will be wearing - runway designers are pushing black is back. Take a look at clothes the next time you shop, notice all of the brown and mocha hues in clothing design. Jewelry trends are going the same way - pieces used as suggested will accommodate this warm palette of color.
The brown and blue hues are most popular but just as I suggested late last year, pink gold still remains very hot with jewelry artist in the precious category showing how it complements these balmy tints.
Well, that is it for now. Please let me know how you have enjoyed the reading about jewelry trends and the new site.
